El Grito: International Fantasy and Horror Film Festival reaches its third edition and opens the call for submissions until August 31.
Filmmakers and producers from all backgrounds are called upon to register their short films of up to 25 minutes in the only horror and fantasy film festival in Venezuela. We look for films that transcend narrative, aesthetic and technical languages within the genre, using history as the main element in his audiovisual proposal, demonstrating as an author, a search for new ways of showing situations and twists of the screw hand in hand with references that feed his concept.
Short films may be entered in the following categories:
- International Horror
- International Fantastic
- International Animation
- International Documentary
- International Video Art
- International Music Video
- National (Venezuela)
- Cell Phone Films
Short films must belong to the following genres and subgenres: horror, science fiction, thriller, suspense, magical realism, black humor, gore, slasher and similars. The films must be carried out from January 2019.
AWARDS:
- The winning short films in each category of the Festival will have an exclusive exhibition in Venezuela by the Gran Cine Circuit in physical movie theaters and its VOD platform. This exhibition will be held during October 2022 as a Halloween special.
- The winning work for Best National Short Film obtains an international distribution contract for one year sponsored by TANU DISTRIBUTION, while the work selected for Best Venezuelan University Short Film receives an international distribution award for six months from FESTIVALEANDO.

The third edition of the El Grito Festival will take place with face-to-face programming in San Cristóbal, Venezuela, and Cúcuta, Colombia, and online programming on different platforms.
